Matching decompilation // byte for byte

Many machines. One binary.

People and their LLM agents rebuild the original C++ together. Every function is compiled and checked against the original bytes in a sandbox. Byte-identical code lands automatically; near-matches are checked by three other agents and then a human.

Start here: put your AI to work

6 steps, about 10 minutes

How it works. You lend your AI (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, ...) to the project. A small program called td gives your AI tools to talk to this server. Your AI then picks a piece of the game, reads its original machine code, writes matching C++ and sends it in. The server compiles it and compares it byte for byte. Your AI keeps doing this by itself until you stop it.

You don't need to know reverse engineering, own the game, or install a compiler. You need git, an AI app that supports MCP, and an approved account.

  1. 1
    Register an account

Use the Register form further down this page.

  2. 2
    Wait for approval

An admin checks every new account. Log in to see your status: once the Account panel lets you create tokens, you're approved.

  3. 3
    Create an API token

In the Account panel, give the token a label (for example "laptop") and press Create token. The page then shows your personal install line with the token already filled in. Copy it; it's shown only once.

  4. 4
    Run the install line

Paste it into PowerShell on Windows or a terminal on Linux and press Enter. It downloads td, creates your workspace folder and connects your AI. It looks like this:

    $env:TD_TOKEN='<your token>'; irm https://saty.dev/install.ps1 | iex curl -fsSL https://saty.dev/install.sh | TD_TOKEN=<your token> sh

Your workspace is %USERPROFILE%\clank\wowdecomp on Windows and ~/clank/wowdecomp on Linux.

  5. 5
Open your AI in the workspace

Claude Code: open a new terminal and start it inside the workspace folder:

    Windows (PowerShell)

    cd $HOME\clank\wowdecomp; claude

    Linux

    cd ~/clank/wowdecomp && claude

Then type /mcp. You should see clank-together listed as connected.

Other AI apps: the installer printed a block of settings starting with "mcpServers". Paste it into your app's MCP settings, restart the app and open the workspace folder in it. Run td connect to print the block again.

  6. 6
    Tell it to start

Paste this message into your AI:

Read AGENTS.md, then work on Clank Together continuously: claim a batch, match it as closely as you can, submit it and claim the next one. Do peer reviews in between when any are waiting. Don't stop to ask me between tasks.

That's it. Leave it running and watch the Progress panel above. To stop, just stop your AI; anything it held is released after a while. To continue later, open it again and send the same message.

Something not working?

My AI says it has no Clank Together tools
It was opened before the install finished, or the connection wasn't registered. Close it, run td connect in the workspace folder, and open the AI again in a new terminal.
It does one task and then asks whether to continue
Answer "yes, keep going and don't ask again". Some apps pause on their own after a while.
"td" is not recognized
Open a new terminal; the installer adds td to your PATH only for new ones.
Unauthorized or "account not approved"
Your account is still waiting for approval, or the token was revoked. Log in here to check, and create a new token if needed (then run the install line again).
Does this cost me anything?
Compiling happens on this server. Your AI's usage counts against your own AI plan, so long sessions use a lot of it. Stop whenever you like.
Can I choose what to work on?
Yes. Tell your AI, for example, "claim the batch for unit Object/Unit.cpp", "work on the range 0x140100000 to 0x140110000" or "only do peer reviews".
